What I Learned About Blogging

Blogging...I am definitely more comfortable with blogging than when I started this class.  I really enjoyed learning how to embed a video and create a slideshow.  The "how to" slideshows were very helpful when exploring new territory.  I am hoping to be able to use blogging in my computer applications classes this fall.  It can be used as an extension activity for the students when learning PowerPoint.  After some additional editing of my blog, I hope to share the link with my students and parents.  It would be an additional method to connect with parents on what we are doing in the classroom.

I have really enjoyed reading the blogs of my classmates.  The videos and slideshows reminded of the elementary years (as I teach high school).  I also enjoy visiting the links on each person's blog!

Classroom Expectations

Expectations are consistent for my classroom and computer lab classes. If I had to choose just one, it would be RESPECT!
  • Please be courteous to everyone at all times!
  • Be prepared (notebook, pen/pencil, etc.)
  • Listen when others speak
  • Follow instructions
  • Respect other’s property and space

Bio at a Glance

Mrs. Supenski is what the students call me at Bellevue West High School. If you ask my DECA students about me, they will say, "You mean DECA Gogi?" They are intrigued by my first name, Gogi, and like to say it! I have been teaching business classes at Bellevue West for four years. After receiving my bachelor's degree at UNL, I was employed at OPPD for a few years before deciding to enjoy being a stay-at-home mom. The experiences shared with my son and two daughters reinforced my decision to become a teacher. My graduate education is in progress at UNO. After completing the TAP program at UNO, I began my teaching career at Bellevue West. Attending a one-room school and having the same teacher for grades K-8 established my love for education (and school). Mrs. Small was a mentor, mother, and friend. She encouraged all of her students to work hard and follow their dreams.

"Techie" may not be my nickname, but I am intrigued by all aspects of technology. I have been a PC user but had an opportunity in my graduate studies to use a Mac. I could easily adapt to using a Mac given time to explore the many applications available. Being a business and technology teacher, I use the technology that is available in my classrooms. Instructing students to use Microsoft Office applications fill my days at Bellevue West. I also use many resources from the Internet to supplement the curriculum. Although I have not entered the smart phone era, many of my students have smart phones and use them as a resource when needed. Technology is advancing at a fast pace and I am anxious to learn more so that I can implement the advances into my classroom.

Back to Blogging

Intending to set up my new blog, I discovered that I set up a blog in 2008. Editing will be ongoing and I hope to continue with my blog and not wait for 3 more years to add another post. Time does get away from me and obviously I get distracted occasionally! Looking forward utilizing the world of blogging.

Google Workshop

Google has so many options.  One tool that I plan to use is the Google Page Creator to design a web page to post links to curriculum related sites appropriate according to district policy.
